Who is this Group For?
These academic groups are designed for learners ages 9–13 and bring together peers with similar ages, academic abilities, and learning strengths. In a supportive, skill-building environment, participants build confidence, strengthen academic skills, and learn alongside others at a similar level.
Group Ratio:
Our ABA-based academic groups maintain a low staff-to-learner ratio (1 staff member to 3–5 learners), allowing for individualized support while teaching within a collaborative group setting. This approach ensures each learner receives personalized guidance while building academic and social skills alongside their peers.
What Does This Look Like?
Learners develop social skills, functional communication, and classroom readiness in a smaller, less distracting environment that mirrors the expectations of a typical classroom. This supportive setting provides opportunities to build, practice, and generalize new skills while fostering confidence and independence.
Students are actively encouraged to develop self-awareness and self-regulation skills, with individualized goals embedded throughout group instruction to strengthen areas of need. This personalized approach helps establish a strong foundation for success and supports the transfer of learned skills into their regular classroom environment.
What If My Learner Is Already In 1:1 Services?
When clinically appropriate, learners receiving 1:1 ABA services have the opportunity to join group sessions. With continued individualized support, they participate in shared activities that target similar social, communication, and classroom goals.
Integrating into the group promotes the generalization of skills in a setting that more closely resembles a larger classroom with multiple peers. Practicing these skills in a supportive group environment helps learners build meaningful social connections while increasing their confidence and independence. These skills can then be carried over into school, home, and community settings.
