Meet Shamaya Dowe MSW, RSW

Registered Social Worker

Shamaya is a dedicated Registered Social Worker, passionate about helping children and families navigate emotional, behavioural, and developmental challenges. She earned her Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from Oakwood University in 2024 and her Master of Social Work (MSW) from Columbia University in 2025, specializing in Advanced Clinical Practice with a concentration in Child and Family Mental Health.

With a strong foundation in community and clinical care, Shamaya provides psychotherapy and case management using a family-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approach. She specializes in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), guiding children and youth to develop healthy thinking patterns, strengthen emotional regulation, and build practical coping strategies that promote long-term resilience.

Prior to joining One Care, Shamaya gained valuable experience supporting diverse populations across social service and healthcare settings, where she honed her ability to connect with clients and families from all walks of life. In her current role, she collaborates closely with families and Registered Behaviour Therapists (RBTs) to design individualized care plans that align with each child’s unique goals and strengths.

Shamaya’s warm, client-centred approach reflects her belief that lasting change happens through collaboration and empowerment. She strives to create a safe, inclusive space where every child—especially those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)—feels seen, supported, and equipped to thrive at home, in school, and in the community.
