Goals will be individualized to the learners within the group based on goals identified in the parent/ guardian baseline.

Cooking and Conversations

Basics: Building foundational skills and early independence in the kitchen

-              Learn basic kitchen safety rules

-              Prepare simple snacks using picture-based recipes

-              Use child-safe kitchen tools (e.g., safety knives)

-              Practice locating ingredients in the fridge and pantry

-              Develop basic food prep skills (washing, spreading, mixing, etc.)

-              Engage in teamwork activities with peers

-              Build early social communication skills in the kitchen setting

-              Participate in fun, hands-on cooking experiences 

 Advanced: Promoting independence, life skills and social interaction through cooking

-              Follow written, multi-step recipes

-              Prepare full, simple meals

-              Practice kitchen safety and hygiene

-              Learn to identify expiration and best-before dates

-              Develop a basic understanding of nutrition and balanced meals

-              Build grocery shopping and budgeting skills

-              Collaborate with peers during group cooking tasks

-              Strengthen social interaction and conversation skills in the kitchen
