One Care Academy

At One Care Academy we provide access to high quality education for children that struggle in a typical classroom. This may include students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Learning Disabilities, Attention Deficit Disorder and more.

What We Offer

Our classrooms Provide

  • Individualized instruction based on ABA principles and overseen by a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst

  • Low student to teacher ratios within small class sizes

  • Ontario Curriculum driven programming

  • Individual Education Plans created for all students

  • Daily Social Skills and Self Help Skills practice (as needed)

  • Ontario Certified Teachers on staff

  • Teacher assistants are all Registered Behaviour Therapists

  • Regular program meetings with parents and teachers to provide detailed feedback, in addition to report cards

Details

  • Classes begin in September and run 12 months of the year

  • Daily schedule: 8:30am to 3:30pm

  • Full day program, alternate days available for part time

    Eligibility Assessment

    Assessment completed to determine placement and eligibility for the program.

    Assessment may take place in group setting, if available.

    Placement Meeting

    Meeting with Clinical Supervisor to determine placement recommendations and discuss goals.

  • Number 4

    Registration

    Registration completed.

    Contract and Handbook signed.

Whether your child needs a little extra support or assistance across all subjects, our team can help. We will design a program that fits your child’s specific needs and abilities.

Academic Support

Whether your child needs a little extra support or assistance across all subjects, our team can help. We will design a program that fits your child’s specific needs and abilities.

Our Academic Tutoring services include

  • One to one or small group learning;

  • Can be held in our classroom or online

  • Focus on learning readiness skills (ex: following classroom instructions and routines, working independently);

  • Focus on Academic skills and fundamentals from the Ontario curriculum

  • High focus areas on study skills support such as: tools to stay on task and organization

  • Ongoing monitoring and supervision to ensure your child’s success.

Early Learners’ Program

School Readiness Group
(Ages 3-5)

Our School Readiness Group is a small group program that targets school readiness skills for preschoolers.

  • The program is for children ages of 3-5 years old.

  • The program is offered across 2 or 3 half days per week at our Clinic location in Oshawa.

  • This program is play based.

The program will focus on skills to prepare for kindergarten such as:

  • Following routines

  • Sitting for group instruction

  • Completing a simple closed ended activity

  • Turn taking / sharing

  • Transitions

Staffing for this program will be from multiple disciplines. Their involvement will vary from consultation to direct time in the program, team members will include:

  • Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA)

  • Instructor Therapist

  • Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT)

  • Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE)

A report card will be provided upon completion of the program which will include:

  • Outline strengths observed during programs

  • Recognize weakness, areas to continue to address in school.

  • Report written with SMART goals to assist transition into the FDK program
